Meetings

Our next meeting is October 6. Mike Wendt will present on Tree Physiology.  He will share some of what he has learned as an Arborist about trees and what causes various effects in the wood we use.

Our September meeting was  ‘Selling Your Work’.  George Wawrzyniak, Ron Zdroik, Tony Rozendaal and Kevin Seigworth shared their experiences and recommendations.  The discussion was lively and we ran out of time to answer all the questions. MAWT Public demos:

Germanfest. Randy Shilling, Mary Schwaller, and Greg Wimsey demonstrated turning, sold their work, and promoted MAWT with a large banner, flyers, and discussions about turning and MAWT. Here is a photo from the event.

Empty Bowls. On October 5 Tony Rozendaal and Kevin Seigworth will demo bowl turning at the Empty Bowls charity event sponsored by Nourish Milwaukee.  The MAWT banner will be flying and information about MAWT will be available.

Folk Fair. Volunteers are needed for the MAWT Holiday Folk Fair event. It will be held on Friday, November 21 through Sunday, November 23.  See the separate page with detail on Folk Fair that is part of this communication.

Youth Turning Program

Now that we have completed the Bardenhagen wood auction and have the funds, we need a volunteer to step forward to lead our effort to develop a youth turning program.  If helping young people learn to turn appeals to you, contact me to discuss further.

Video Team

MAWT is looking for a few volunteers to step forward and join our AV team. We would like to have multiple people familiar with our camera and Zoom operation so we have depth and backup in the event of illness or travel. Please contact someone on the board if you can help out.

MAWT T-Shirts

The Milwaukee Area Woodturners is putting together an order for T-Shirts such as you see some members wearing to club meetings or other functions. The T-Shirt is high visibility yellow with a brown MAWT logo.
