Volunteer Opportunity (Friedens)

The director of Friedens Food Pantries writes:

Food Rescue Drivers Needed!

Did you know? Nearly 300,000 lbs of our food is rescued from local grocery stores! Friedens counts on a large team of volunteers who pick up rescued food in their vehicles and deliver it to our food center sites 6 days a week. Any type of vehicle will work!

This program brings much-needed produce to our shoppers and brings exciting variety to the products on our shelves that shoppers get to choose from.

We have a critical need to cover 2 weekly routes:

  • Route 1: Every Saturday at 8:45 AM from Outpost in Bay View (2826 S Kinnickinnic Ave) to Hope House (209 W Orchard St)
  • Route 2: Every Tuesday at 10:30 AM from Costco Menomonee Falls (W162N9235 Pershing Ave) to Hope House (209 W Orchard St)

We need short-term substitute drivers for the following routes:

  • 9 Weeks: Mondays at 8:30 AM, February 19 – April 15, from Trader Joe’s Brookfield (12665 W Bluemound Rd) to Marcia Coggs Center (1220 W Vliet St).
  • 3 Weeks: Fridays at 8:00 AM, March 1-15, from Costco New Berlin (15300 W Grange Ave) to Despensa De La Paz (1615 S 22nd St
