Hi fellow MAWT members,
If you signed into the March Zoom meeting, you saw a great demonstration by Rebecca DeGroot. Rebecca is an art teacher from Texas and also a nationally-known woodturning demonstrator. She explained in detail how to make one of her signature “walking bowls”, from the initial bowl turning, to the construction of the legs and then power carving. It was an excellent, informative demo. And this sounds like a great time to announce a turning challenge! Try to make one of Rebecca’s walking bowls this month for April’s Show and Tell.
We have the next couple of meetings tentatively scheduled and will send out info as the April and May meeting dates approach.
I would like to thank all of the members who have renewed their memberships. The MAWT Board and I are aware that not having in-person meetings can be frustrating but because of your support and membership, we are able to provide members with access to great demonstrations by fellow members and also nationally known turners. To continue getting these excellent virtual meetings, you must renew. There are two simple ways – either by PayPal through the club’s website (www.mawturners.com) or mail a check directly to George Wawrzyniak (7859 W. Canterbury Ct., Franklin, WI 53132).
Some final notes:
– If you have a demonstrator suggestion or wish to do a demo, send an email to me at president@mawturners.com
– Send photos and info of your latest turned creations for the Show and Tell to Tom Hipsak at thipsak@wi.rr.com
– A thank you to Jerry Anson for hosting the March Zoom meeting.
Hey, the weather is getting warmer, the snow is melting and spring is just around the corner, at least it is astronomically with the vernal equinox…so enjoy the upcoming spring.
Keep turning and stay safe,
Ron Zdroik
