Newsletter for December 2019 Monthly Meeting

December President’s letter
Hi fellow woodturners,
We had a great group of turners get together Monday evening for MAWT’s annual December Christmas Party. As usual, there was way too much food and the Secret Santa raffle produced a lot of excellent gifts. Thanks to all members who joined in the festivities and particularly to members and guests who helped out with the food prep and cleanup.
Important items mentioned before we indulged in all of the culinary delights:

1) There will be a CLEAN-UP DAY on Saturday , Dec. 7 th, starting at 9am until around noon. The club needs to organize and clean up our area of the Woodcraft meeting area. We have about 3 or so volunteers but need a couple more. Please contact me at ron@cozmicdimensions.com.

2) The AAW is holding their annual Craft School Scholarship program. The AAW will pay for the tuition of a class held at two arts and craft schools. If you are interested, you can self-nominate at: https://www.woodturner.org/page/ChapterScholarships2.
You need be a member of MAWT and the AAW to apply (before Jan. 15, 2020).
3) We need some members to help out the club by volunteering for an opening on the Board as well as demonstration coordinator and website manager. Please contact me or Tony Rozendaal at trozendaal@wi.rr.com .
4) An item I forgot to mention – we are invited back to the Woodworkers Show this coming February. This is a wonderful event for the club by getting people interested in woodturning. We had a very successful booth this past year and would like to repeat this but we need someone to be the coordinator. It’s a simple job, just schedule volunteer members and work with the helpful folks at the Woodworkers Show. We can’t do this again unless someone steps up – please contact me.
Reflecting back on 2019, MAWT has really expanded into a great welcoming organization. Membership has increased, meetings have grown, we’ve had many great demonstrations and the club has reached out into the community with Turn for Troops, Empty Bowls and Bead of Courage. Let’s keep up the good work.
Looking forward to an even better 2020 – we already have some great demos lined up.

Keep turning,
Ron Zdroik
