This was written over 10 days ago and I never got it published…
It was good to have a somewhat normal meeting this month. The “somewhat” is because the scheduled demonstrator could not be there because of circumstances beyond his control, so we decided to hold an extended show and tell. The recording of that meeting is posted on the club’s video page. We should soon have photos of the display items posted on our gallery page.
Regardless, it was good to see many of you in person. I counted 33 members in attendance and we had about 7 participating on Zoom for a total of about 40 members.
By the time I am publishing this, I can also report we had a good workshop on Saturday, May 18. We had three mentor-types and four club members turning and another club member stopped in for a while to observe.
Following are news items from the Milwaukee Area Woodturners:
- Club membership currently stands at 109 members who have paid their dues for 2024. Welcome to our newer members.
- Craft Supplies (USA) is reinstating their Club Support Program. MAWT will received a number of gift certificates each quarter to share with members through the Raffle or other means.
- A recalculation of the expenses vs. revenue of the Alan Lacer – the correct numbers are $3,490 revenue and $3,802.67 expense. So the club lost $312.67. The board considers this to be a successful event.
I’ll close by once again thanking all those who volunteer at our club. Board members, mentors at workshops, demonstrators, AV-team members, raffle ticket sellers, those who willingly pick up a broom to sweep up after a demo and more. It takes volunteers to make a club like ours tick, and I am deeply appreciative of all those who help out. THANK YOU!!
