February 2018 Meeting Review

The meeting on February 5, 2018 was surprisingly well attended in spite of the weather.

Scott Kosteretz was recognized for his leadership as club president for the preceding 3 years and for his serving as the charter president when the club was founded.

Among the announcements was the reminder that the Woodworking Show is coming to Milwaukee on March 9 through 11, and will be held at the Milwaukee County Sports Complex.

Also, Neu’s Hardware¬†in Germantown is holding a Woodworking Show and Tool Sale on February 24th.

Dave Drickhamer gave a brief update on Turn for Troops. Check out where we are to our annual goal.

The demo was conducted by Curt Van Weelden and Tony Rozendaal. Curt rough turned a bowl from green wood, and Tony finish turned a dried bowl that had been roughed out some time earlier. Because it was not sealed immediately after turning, the green ash bowl now has cracked.

Tony announced a challenge for September. He brought in a number of green ash bowl blanks. The challenge is to take one of those, green turn it, let it dry and final turn it.. Bring it back for the September meeting. That will also coincide with the collection for Empty Bowls, although, it is not required that the bowl be donated to Empty Bowls.
