MAWT March 2026 Newsletter
Cindy Drozda did a remote demo from her Colorado shop. Her demo was on turning a Finial Star bowl from a piece of burl. Cindy demonstrated turning the bowl and saving the wood for the lid by parting it out of the bowl. Later, the bowl rim was cut into a star shape at the bandsaw. Her demonstration included the use of a negative rake scraper to prepare the wood for the application of multiple colors of wood dye in several layers. Multiple uses of purpose made jamb blocks were shown. She concluded by showing how she signs her work with a Dremel engraver and a gold lacquer stick. It was educational and entertaining. MAWT members will have access to a replay for thirty days.
At our April meeting, Chris Kelliher will present his approach to turning offset mushrooms. He will be just returning from his class with Ashley Harwood, partially funded by the MAWT 2025 scholarship.
